August favourites

August is almost over and i know it's been a while since i last posted a monthly favourite so i thought i'd post a couple of my new and old faves. I'm still feeling a little groggy from our long drive. The trip to Siargao was beyond amazing, i can't even begin to explain everything. .it was just so magical. A blog post all about our Siargao trip will be posted in the following days. Let me just recharge and collect my thoughts because i'm seriously still on cloud nine as we speak. But before everything else, let's talk about my favourites before this month ends.

Herbal Essences hello hydration moisturizing conditioner (orchid & coconut milk)
-This is what i've been using during our Siargao trip and it really made my beach hair feel soft and let's not forget the smell. .i'm hooked!

Palmolive body wash (milk & honey)
I literally cannot skip this in my daily shower routine. Just try this and you'll know what i mean.

Pond's BB cream
I've been using this for almost a year now and i can honestly say that i've never touched my korean BB creams since then. I love that it's very light weight, it doesn't have any strong scent, it covers my blemishes and red spots perfectly and it blends well on the skin. I wear the lightest shade and it doesn't look too white on me, it's a bit darker on my skin tone which i really like. It even has SPF 30 and although it says whitening i haven't really noticed any whitening effect on my skin which is a plus for me since i'm not trying to whiten my face.

Maybelline great lash mascara
A cult favourite and a staple on my makeup bag. I normally don't go for the non water proof mascaras but this one is really nice. It's a lot easier to remove and it doesn't make me look like a panda like most non water proof mascaras.

Maybelline color tattoo 24hr gel cream eyeshadow (Bad to bronze)
I've searched high and low for this product. It wasn't available in the local department stores so i had to go online but for some reason i purchased a totally different product. Typical me. But i was really surprised to see this in one of the maybelline stalls in Robinson's butuan. I literally just went for it and stormed to the counter. I love that it's very pigmented and it doesn't crease. I'm definitely going back to check out the other shades.

English tea shop (cranberry vanilla delight)
I have to be honest, The taste takes a bit of getting used to but once it settles the more i find it calming. Everytime i drink a cup the more i sleep better. Plus it's organic and it has antioxidants which is good for you.

And that is all! :) have a great week ahead!

Indulge weekends: Davao's best burger (Backyard Burgers)

This is going to be my very first food review and i'm not really sure how i'm going to be doing this or how i'm going to begin but let me just put this out, i am not the biggest fan of burgers, the ONLY burger i really crave for is the Jollibee aloha burger mainly because it's huge and how can i miss out the bacon, the mushrooms and the humongous pineapple? Okay i'm gonna have to stop myself before i head to the nearest Jollibee. I know blogging about food is not a good idea when you're currently on your period but seriously, that is the only burger i can really eat and i don't even crave for it as often as some people do. But living in Davao city how can i miss the most talked about Backyard Burgers when it's literally just outside our village. A lot of people have been raving about it, it's all over my Facebook timeline and my Instagram feed so how can i not be curious? So is it really worth the hype?

Yesterday, Dirk and i decided to finally give in and try the famous Backyard Burgers. As you all know we have been eating healthy for quite some time now and we usually indulge on weekends. We haven't been indulging for the past couple of weeks because we just didn't really feel like eating out plus Dirk was super busy with work. But since it's shark week for me (if you know what i mean) and it's the last day of Kadayawan we decided to head to Backyard Burgers. We went to their Matina branch which was just right outside our village. I really like the whole vibe of the place. It seems to be an old house from the 80's  that has been renovated into an American Diner. I love the fact that we don't have to wait in line because the place wasn't packed, maybe because it was already 3pm and it was a Sunday.

There's just something about these kinds of lighting in restaurants and diners that makes me feel really relaxed and hungry. Mehehe! I don't know if i'm making any sense but whatever, you get the idea.

Dirk and i were starving at this point because the place smells so heavenly. The smell of grilled burgers makes me drool like a wild dog and i just can't wait to get my hands on those burgers.

Dirk ordered the Extra cheesy Burger

And i ordered the one with Bacon

The verdict?

O to the M to the GGG! Both were scrumptious and very satisfying i must admit. I think i finally found my new favorite and i'm pretty sure Dirk agrees with me. You can really tell that the patties are high quality beef, i don't know if that's the right term but the beef patty taste really good. Another plus about backyard burgers is their buns. They taste so good that i had to leave out the other bun for later so i can take my time and really indulge. Usually when i eat burgers from other restaurants their buns don't taste that good. I mean they just taste so plain and i don't really like that. this for me is the total package. I'm not entirely sure if this is the yummiest burger here in Davao, there may be more out there but so far to me this is the best. I'm looking forward to another cheat day so we can try out the other best sellers in their menu. For the out of towners out there, you cannot leave Davao without trying out Backyard Burgers. Do yourselves a favor and head to the nearest Backyard Burgers and indulge. Period.

My all-time favourites: Lips & eyes

I must admit i honestly prefer to go au naturel these days mainly because it's ridiculously humid here in the Philippines. I don't know what happened to me but i've just been really lazy in putting makeup on. I find myself dabbing a little concealer on my under eye circles and a little bit on the sides of my nose and mouth to cancel the redness and then i'll just put a nude or light pink lipstick on and i'm good to go. I even skip the powder because i don't want my face to feel heavy and cakey. Okay, i don't claim to have a perfect skin in fact i have blemishes and red spots on my face but i think wearing less makeup or no makeup at all helps get rid of my imperfections. My point? You don't always have to wear makeup every single day. i really wanna promote going bare faced once in a while just to let your skin breathe. I don't really care if i look like a zombie as long as i feel comfortable. But anyway, moving on with the post. On days when i feel a little experimental here are some of my favourite makeup products.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
I am not embarrassed to admit that this is the only High-end makeup palette i own right now. Mehehe! I lost my Urban decay feminine palette last year and i'm still pretty bummed about it. But the Naked 2 has every color you need, i stopped using this for a while because as i've said it's like a bajillion degrees outside but when certain occasions call for it this has always been my go-to palette. I sometimes mix this with my NYX eyeshadows or my Pinky swear single eyeshadows.

•Revlon just bitten kissble balm stain in Honey Douce
-this has been my favourite out of all the shades in the balm stain line. It has a suttle nudish pink color but it's not super nude. It's perfect for everyday. Plus, i really love the fact that it's very mosturizing on the lips and it also has a cooling effect.

•Ever Bilena matte lipstick in Mauvey
- My ultimate cheap thrill. This shade is perfect as a base or you can wear it as it is but for me, i really like using this as a base color and i just top it off with any pink lipstick for a suttle pink shade perfect for everyday.

Maybelline color sensational lip color in Plum Perfect
- At first i didn't really like the color because i was expecting it to be a bit darker considering it's a plum shade but for some reason it appeared to be a pink champagney and a little frosty which i'm not too excited about but i still gave it a try and i ended up really liking it. It's perfect for November and December.

•Revlon Colorburst lipgloss in Crystal Lilac
- i bought this mainly because it reminded me of my old favourite Mac lipglass in the shade Oyster girl but this has more pink in it. I really like the packaging and the fact that it's not sticky. I usually wear this on top of the Mauvey lipstick.

Be inspired: week 5

Another sunday well spent. I'm down to my 5th week of my inspiration posts and i don't think i'll be stopping anytime soon. Here are a few quotes i've been drawn to lately. Anyway piranha or shark week is currently happening (if you know what i mean). I've been PMS-ing like crazy woman, i feel so emotional and super stressed out. I don't know how it is but i think the more i age the more i can't control these hormones. I know i should get used to this because it is monthly you know. But nope, It gets worse. Raise your hands if you feel me. Moving on, when it's shark week for me i usually get haunted by bad experiences in the past or i get really sensitive with a lot of things. I cry so easily that i feel like a pregnant woman on crack. Because i get haunted by the past i'll get on with the purpose of this post before i make this long and dramatic. We all have had bad experiences in our lives. We can't change that. All we have to do is accept it and move on with our lives. But it doesn't just stop there, we also need to be better and the first step is to forgive others and forgive ourselves. I know it's extremely hard to forgive others but that's why you need to forgive yourself first. In forgiving yourself you will actually be happier and eventually you'll learn to forgive but of course it'll take some time but at least you are being open to the idea of forgiving. You must NEVER skip this part. This may take months, even years but it will all be worth it once you get through it.   So the next step is being happier. This means learning to love yourself and discovering your strengths. Don't be afraid to set goals, nothing is impossible just as long as these goals will not harm you or anyone and most importantly pray. Life is unfair sometimes but all you have to do is be strong and learn to dance in the rain. Just as long as you are not doing anything wrong then you'll be fine. Just believe and count your blessings. I hope you all had a great weekend! :))

Healthy Pantry Essentials

 photo image_zps5143fb99.jpg
Hey loves! I know i haven't been posting a lot lately mainly because this week has been chaotic for Dirk and i and as you all know when things are chaotic there's just not much fun going on but i will be posting exciting things next week and the following weeks to come so stay tuned for that. We are gonna be out of town next week for Dirk's work and then we're gonna be heading to the beach for the weekend so i'm super excited for that. I can't wait to get tanned because i really need some color in me! My skin has been so pale, it's ridiculous. But before everything else i thought i might share some of my healthy pantry essentials. As you all know i have been living a healthier lifestyle and i'm proud to say that i've never felt healthier and happier in my life. Being healthy doesn't mean you have to starve yourself, it's all about how you take care of yourself. What you eat and how you see life. I've just been eating a lot healthier for the past couple of months and let me tell you, it has been an incredible journey and i plan to do this for the rest of my life. Although i eat a lot healthier i also have days when i get to indulge, but i only have cheat treats strictly on weekends where i can eat a burger or have my favorite cheesecake and that's just it. So before i start rambling let's get on with the purpose of this post. Here are some of my pantry essentials:

1. Organic coconut sugar
- this has been my choice of sweetener ever since i started to eat healthier. I usually get mine at our local Pasalubong center here in Davao city but i' m pretty sure you can get this anywhere.

2. Rolled oats
- i am not a breakfast person. i can't eat rice in the morning because my stomach just can't handle it and don't get me started with Dairy products because it'll not sound good but i've been enjoying oats lately especially rolled oats and i'm gonna be posting a healthy breakfast recipe soon :) you can buy rolled oats at any Robinson's or Rustan's fresh groceries.

3. Coconut water
- coconut water is everything! i am so lucky i live in a tropical country where coconuts are everywhere. I try to avoid the packed ones you usually get at the groceries but if you don't have coconuts at your town then just head to the grocery.  I usually drink them and eat the coconut meat. sometimes i add coconut water to my smoothies.

4. Organic virgin coconut oil
- i use coconut oil for a lot of things, i use is at a moisturizer, a makeup remover, an eye cream ,  i use it for my salads, for cooking, to treat sunburn or chapped lips. It's everything! And it'll save you a lot of money, plus it's 100% natural. Make sure to buy the unrefined one.

5. Almond milk
- i mainly use this as a creamer for my coffee, sometimes i add it on my hot tea, smoothies, oats, or as an ingredient for my vegan pancakes. I usually buy the almond breeze brand and i really like the vanilla and the chocolate flavor. This is lactose free and soy free. I get mine at Healthy Options.

6. Cinnamon powder
- i can't believe i'm actually including this since i grew up hating the taste and smell of cinnamon. I used to really hate anything that has cinnamon in it, but it all changed last year. I don't know how it happened but i am so thankful! I use this for my breakfast oatmeals and sometimes i add some to my smoothies and i love the fact that it taste and smells like christmas :)

7. Organic honey
one of my favourite sweeteners. I like to drizzle a little bit to my breakfast oats (or maybe a lot!) and i use this as a key ingredient for my face mask.

And that's pretty much it! I hope i gave you guys some ideas if you are planning to build your healthy pantry because i'm still in the process of building mine and i'd love to post more about this in the future :)

DIY: Easy Turban headband (no sew)

Okay, so i took a leap and did a little something-something for my ladies today. This is going to be my very first DIY post and i'm actually nervous and ecstatic at the same time so i hope this will be helpful for you :)

What you'll need:
•Old over-sized t-shirt or any stretchable cloth (patterns, prints, go crazy!)
•Scissors
•Ruler

Step 1:
First, remove the hem by cutting it. Then cut an 8 inch piece out of your shirt.

Step 2:
Pull the 8 inch piece in opposite sides until the edges will curl.

Step 3:
Twist it into a figure two times

Step 4:
Fold it in half

Step 5:
Turn knot side to the front then voila!

•I actually did the sewn version and i find it more presentable and less messy so i'm gonna do a separate post on that. But if you just wanna have an easy on-the-go turban then this will do. You can also make smaller ones for babies :)

Be inspired: week 4

I can't believe i've been blogging for 4 weeks now! If you know me i'm very fickle minded and i probably own like 10 blogs that i haven't even updated in a very long time. It's not that i don't want to blog but i'm just too lazy before but it all changed last month. I promised myself to make this a daily blog and i'm trying my best to update every now and then. Well. .more like every single day. Ha! What can i say? I'm hooked. And it's not even about how many followers or views i get, i don't even care if people will read my posts. I just love doing this and i love sharing my insights. Plus, i find blogging very therapeutic. With that said, i will leave you with some quotes i found on my Pinterest to hopefully inspire you.

Weekend look: never ending summer weather

As we all know it's always been insanely humid here in the Philippines especially nowayads the weather has been in its bipolar state so it's quite fitting to still wear summery outfits. But trust me you guys have no idea how hot it can get here. It's ridiculous. So with that said i tinkered with my Polyvore account again and i started to come up with new looks and the first look is this weekend outfit idea. I know it's not summer anymore but here in the Philippines you get to wear summer outfits every month without looking like a fool. That's one of the perks on being in a tropical country. I don't really like it because i hate humidity but it's not like i can do anything about it. So i'm just gonna have to chug on ice water and turn the AC on full-blast. 😊

I'm really excited for the plans i've been cooking up for this blog and i don't wanna spoil everything since i'm trying my best to make this daily. Be inspired: Week 3

This week's inspiration board is all about being optimistic. I've been super inspired lately that i had to share my thoughts on making things happen. I know i'm not there yet but if i just keep on pursuing then sooner or later i can honestly say i've reached my goal. But of course that wouldn't be easy if you keep focusing on the negative. I've always been a pessimist growing up maybe because i had a very low self-esteem but as i grew older i came to realize that nothing good will ever happen to you if you just keep dwelling on the negative. How will you ever move forward if you keep on doubting yourself? Whether if it's about pursuing your dreams or maybe a carrier move you just have to take a leap of faith and trust God with every decision you make and of course you also have to trust yourself because no one will ever know you better than yourself. It will not be an easy journey. There will be failures but these failures are going to make you a better and stronger person.

Easy like sunday morning

Earlier this morning, Dirk and i decided to head to the trade fair and farmers market since we really haven't been spending much time this week because he was busy with work so we decided to just go to the fair instead of watching a movie. Sometimes as much as we want to chill at the mall or hang out in restaurants it's also nice to just be able to spend sundays grocery shopping or going to the farmers market where we don't have to dress up or anything.

Here are some snippets from our little trip to the sunday market earlier:

Tis the season for some tropical fruits!

Cactus is love!

Beautiful Hydrangeas for sale

These are actually real butternut and winter squashes. Feels like fall already :)
