I wanna start by saying that i've always had fine hair and that was a problem for me since i had no volume whatsoever. My hair looked flat and pretty much boring. Whenever i'd try to style it, it just doesn't cooperate. It was so frustrating that i even considered having major hair treatments that would give me that blow dried effect. I'm so glad i did my research beforehand because it completely helped me save money from getting those damaging hair treatments.
Now first thing's first, the most important factor on how to achieve volume to your fine hair is the right products and the right methods used. I did my research (thank you mother google!)
•Conditioner first! Trust me. Applying your conditiner beforehand adds volume to your hair. I've been doing this method for about 2 months now and it made a huge difference.
•Avoid cream based shampoos since it'll weigh your hair down, thus making it more flat.
•Brush your hair before taking a shower to avoid tangles and hair-fall.
•When applying shampoo make sure to apply it on the back of your nape first before working your way on top of your head. You can skip applying it on your ends since it'll only dry them out.
•Make sure to air dry your hair and avoid brushing it while it's still wet to avoid hair-fall.
•Add some layers to your hair but not too much since too much layering will flatten your hair more. Talk to your hair stylist about the best cuts for your hair.
•Apply argan oil or sunflower oil to your hair before bedtime.
•Tie your hair up in a loose pony tail before going to bed to avoid it getting flat while sleeping.
•Use a teasing comb and a volumizing hair mousse.
These are just some of the tips i gathered from researching and also from my personal experience. I hope it'll help my fellow flat haired sistahs out there.
For long flat haired girls, my advice is to have your hair cut and layered. Kind of like a long bob to add more volume since stick straight hairs won't work.
